Grace in africa
The church has close and personal links with the great continent of Africa. A monthly prayer meeting, visiting speakers, an annual ‘Africa Sunday’, committed support for workers and projects are all part of our links.
In particular we support work in the Democratic Republic of Congo, student work in Uganda, and orphanage projects in the Republic of South Africa. Several of our members have visited these projects and brought practical care in various ways.

We are involved in supporting two children's centres in South Africa who work with underprivileged children, many of whom are orphans and/or infected with HIV/AIDS. There are a staggering 2.5 million orphans in South Africa, of whom 1.4 million are AIDS orphans, so the need is immense. Over the years Grace in Africa has built strong links with Morning Star and Tshepo ya Bana children's centres and we have regularly sent teams to work directly with the carers and to help in building and community projects.
As well as providing practical care and support for this work our teams benefit immensely from the experience of serving others in this very practical way. The whole Church is involved in fundraising for these projects through the year and several have directly sponsored children.
Africa Prayer Group In the face of the immense needs of this world and only to aware of our own weaknesses and shortcomings, we truly believe that only God can meet the needs. So we pray! Once a month we meet to pray for the needs of Africa, and in particular the organisations and projects that we are involved with.
We have strong links with Africa Inland Mission, an organisation working to establish Churches among African people, and we regularly invite returning workers to visit us and give firsthand accounts of the work they are involved with. A number of our members have themselves been involved in working with AIM in Africa
